Field Notes
To develop our understanding of the land and our place, we often need to engage in deep research. These are documented here as Field Notes.
Field Notes are organised into several areas of study, including:
- The pollen record of Dartmoor: research into the colours we use in our practice alongside information about the prehistorical arrival of these plants on the high moor of Dartmoor. We do not assume a direct lineage for these plants, but we try to place our work into the historical context of place.
- Plant studies form a core part of our practice, focusing on the material, historical, and ecological roles of selected species used in ink and pigment work. These studies explore how plants behave as sources of colour, tannin, fibre, and chemical transformation within natural systems.
